Letter of Inquiry: 4% of final grade
Required Revision Assignment

Goals For this sub-assignment of the big report, you will write a routine letter of inquiry addressed to a source of information for your project, to your primary audience if you are asking for more information on his/her/their needs, or to some official who can give you permission to distribute your questionnaire.
What You Turn In Follow the format for an inquiry letter in the textbook  (139-40) and use your own letterhead. (Remember the difference between situations that call for a letter and those that call for a memo.)  Make sure you observe the conventions for correspondence (132-38). You may submit this letter as an attachment to an e-mail or as a hard (paper) copy in your envelope.
Tips

Examine and critique the sample letters of inquiry in light of what the assignment requires, the text recommends, and the rubric measures. Do not send the letter to the intended recipient until I have seen and approved it. This saves us both potential difficulties.
Grading The letter will be judged on its clarity, completeness, accuracy, and persuasive success according to the Rubric. Remember that mechanical perfection is expected of average WRIT 465 work.
