As you will note on your syllabus, you are required to revise four of the documents you write in this class substantially. The revisions are due the class period after the graded document is returned, unless you take an extension or I tell you otherwise.
By substantial revision for WRIT 465, we mean that you will do a lot more than just correct any errors in the first version (though of course those must be fixed). Re-vision means re-seeing, re-conceptualizing, re-attacking what you have done. You might change the tone, the organization, the audience appeal, the style, the visual layout--or many combinations of these factors. You should look for tendencies you can strengthen, habits or patterns you can improve, strategies that you might use as alternates, etc., as you revise.
Revisions are averaged into the grade for an assignment; I will average two revision grades for each assignment, though I am happy to look at third, fourth, fifth, etc., versions if you want me to. If you fail to turn in a revision for a mandatory revision assignment, I will average in a zero. I accept no late revisions.
If you receive an A on the original assignment, you do not need to revise it.
If you confine yourself to fixing only the errors in the original, your revision grade will be no higher than D.
If
you make only a few cosmetic changes beyond fixing the errors, your revision
grade will be no higher than C.
