Goals |
Periodic
reports such as progress reports are a regular feature of most
professional jobs. For the progress report assignment, you need to write
me a letter on your letterhead stationery reporting on the
progress you have made as of the date of the letter in completing the
big report. It should follow the layout of the sample in the
textbook (pp. 75-76). You may e-mail me this report as an attachment in .rtf
format or you may give me hard copy in your envelope. |
What
You Turn In |
The four things I want
to see in this report are concise descriptions of:
- What you have
accomplished so far. Be specific. I don't just want a list of what
papers you have turned in on what dates; refer back to your PERT or
Gantt chart and let me know where you are. If you want to attach a
revised chart, you can, but it is not required.
- What specifically
you still have to do to complete the report. Again, I don't just
want a list of the papers to be turned in, but a discussion of the
activities you foresee completing in order to get the material you
need for your report.
- What problems you
have faced, and how you have (or have not been able to) overcome
them.
- What your specific
schedule is for completing the report; look at the syllabus and give
me precise dates.

Tips
 |
- Please
be honest in this report. Don't fudge about what's been done and what
still has to be accomplished; I can't help you if you don't tell me the
truth.
- The content of this report, naturally, will be easier to compose
if you have made some progress. Hmmm.
-
Take advantage of the pyramid
to organize your document effectively.
-
Work on page design to make the visual appearance of the document
reinforce its content (BWC 196 ff).
