Dear Dr. Koster:
I am relatively satisfied with my progress to date in writing a report proposing the addition of a practicum class in Medical Nutrition Therapy to the curriculum in the Department of Human Nutrition.
Achievements
I have achieved a number of the goals in my work plan. I have interviewed
Drs. Wolman and Silagyi-Rebovich to discuss adding a practicum class and the
procedures required to do so. I received permission from Dr. Wolman to pass
out surveys in the Medical Nutrition Therapy class and distributed and
retrieved those surveys on January 31, 2001. I have also tallied the results
from the survey.
Issues of Concern
Although I had trouble finding articles on practica and hands-on learning
classes myself, Dr. Silagyi-Rebovich kindly helped me find some of the
secondary research I need. I am concerned, however, about finding other
universities that offer a practicum class so that I can give Dr. Wolman ideas
on how those classes are set up. I am trying to find better Internet search
terms to use for locating these materials.
I still must decide what information will be appropriate to present in my graphics. Although I have located the articles Dr. Silagyi-Rebovich recommended, I have yet to read them to see how useful they will be in my final report. I also need to begin drafting my final report so that it is ready in time for my rough draft conference.
Updated Schedule
I intend to complete my graphics and secondary research this week. I will
write the rough draft of my report this weekend so that I can take it to the
Writing Center early next week. This will leave me two weeks to confer with
you, find additional research, and polish the report to be submitted on time.
I look forward to any suggestions or comments you may have.
