Short Take 4: Your Culminating Experience
Mandatory Conferences with Dr. K: Dec. 1 & 2
Due" Friday December 12, 5 pm (if not earlier)
Show and Tell: Final Exam Period (Saturday Dec. 13, 3 pm)

Since you have all expressed enthusiasm (in various degrees) for doing a creative project, Short Take 4 will be that opportunity. I'm setting you free in this project to show me what you have learned in the course--in terms of content, rhetorical effect, and technical skills. It could be a traditional paper analyzing some kind of theory or text related to the course; it could be a web page, a nested set of web pages, or an experiment with creating a hypertext of your fiction or poetry; a graphic novel (ok, graphic short story...I'm not asking for the DC Comics edition of War and Peace); it could be a multimedia text made with Photostory or a similar program. This is up to you. Again, since this is serving as your culminating experience in the class, you want to make this more than a repeat of something you've done before. You need to show how far your understanding has advanced. I'll be glad to serve as a sounding board for your ideas if you want to bounce them off me. The length and complexity are up to you; this counts as 14% of your final grade, so take that into consideration as you develop your project.

Accompanying this project--whatever it is--should be a "Creator's Preface." This should be a text (and again, it can be traditional text or multimedia) that explains the ways in which your project serves to show you have met at least some of the goals of the class and answered at least some of the questions in the class rhizome. Its length is up to you, but I would imagine that a full explanation would take you in the neighborhood of 800 words, if not more.

You are required to bring a rough draft of this project & preface to my office for feedback so that you can revise it before you submit the final project. I will post a schedule on my office door so that you can sign up for a revision conference.
