Contributor Biographies
Kimberly G. Byrd
Kimberly G. Byrd is
currently enrolled in the Master
of Liberal Arts program at Winthrop University. In addition
to being a graduate student, she is the Web content coordinator for
Winthrop. She is extremely interested in Web
accessibility and is committed to making Web pages available to
everyone.
Brooke Branch
Brooke Branch has a light inside her belly. She enjoys sprouting,
taking walks, climbing trees, jumping on unexpecting backs,
comfortable silences, interpretive dance, watercolor, open fields,
feathers, metaphysics, leaves, hands and fingers, honesty, raining,
creative variety, rawness, love-smiles, warming that cold skin,
tattered thread, swing sets, squirmy worms, writing letters, being
soft, finding insides, the word "momma," fruit, phonographs,
pressing flowers, "knowing," roly-polies, the ocean, whispering
winds, wideness, circles, and the number 3. She is everywhere, in
everything.
Debbie Ciepiela
Debbie is a senior, majoring in English, with a specialization in
professional communications. She works fulltime in University
Relations at Winthrop University. She has been married for 16 years
to her best friend, Mark. They have a 14-year-old son, Cory, who is
a freshman in high school. In her spare time, Debbie loves to read,
knit, hike, scrapbook, and travel. She can often be found in her
garage, assisting her husband in restoring his 1976 Pontiac Trans
Am.
Heather Harman
Heather Harman is currently pursuing her
Master’s degree in English and has her Bachelor’s degree in
Psychology. She admits that she probably should have gone for the
Bachelor’s in English instead, but alas, hindsight is 20/20. As far
as interests go, Heather has a fondness for Star Wars, caffeine, and
history, not particularly in that order. As such, Heather’s
contribution to this website makes perfect sense. She sincerely
hopes that visitors to the website enjoy reading “Anakin
Skywalker-and-Napoleon Bonaparte: A Comparison.”
Stephanie Harris
Stephanie Harris is a junior English Major at Winthrop University.
She enjoys reading, sleeping on the beach, writing, caffeine,
spending time with friends, going for walks, playing
volleyball, and blowing gum bubbles. She hopes to one day publish a
book of short stories if she can ever find the time to complete the
stories. She works as a copy editor for Winthrop's student-run
newspaper The Johnsonian, is a Peer Mentor for the ACAD 101 program
at Winthrop, and volunteers for The Red Cross. Stephanie is very
opinionated and enjoys discussing thoughts and ideas with her peers.
Jo Koster
Jo Koster teaches courses in British literature and advanced
composition at Winthrop University when she is not spending her time
going to committee meetings and making brownies for students.
Although most of her creative writing is done in her checkbook, her
chapbook No Going Home was published by Devil's Millhopper Press in
2002 and her next collection, Nine Day's Wonder, will appear in
2006. And oh yes, she is the instructor of record for WRIT 501.
Jamerson Magwood
Jamerson Magwood is a senior English/Professional Communications and
History major. His primary interests are with Neo-classical and
Victorian British literature as well as syntactic rhetoric. He
plans to write for an established journal in the future. Jamerson is
Treasurer for the Literary Society at Winthrop University, Vice
President of Programming for the Resident Students' Association, and
Vice President of the National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter at
Winthrop.
Marcus Pierre Moore
Marcus Moore, a Mass Communications major, is an intellectual the caliber of a young Chris
Matthews or Mark Wahlberg. He is a democrat and deeply religious
Christian. He enjoys writing and describes his writing style as "often bland but
informative." He is a PFC in the United States Army.
Josh Parks
Josh Parks is a senior in the Professional Communications track
of the English program. He has been involved in a variety of
on-campus organizations including Winthrop's student government,
NCTE, the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and the Interfraternity
Conference. He hopes to graduate in December and begin a career in
technical writing/editing or corporate communications. He currently
resides in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rebekah Woodson
Rebekah Woodson wrote her first short
story at age eight and was first published in high school with an
essay on Barbie dolls. At Winthrop University she is studying
English and specializing in professional communications. Rebekah is
editor in chief of Winthrop’s student-run newspaper, The Johnsonian.
She recently decided to begin work on her first book, which she
plans to write on her mother. “Writing this fiction piece for More
Than Words has really inspired me to find out the truth behind my
mother’s illness. I’ve never written a book before, but I look
forward to interviewing people I haven’t seen in years,” she said.
In her spare time, Rebekah plays in the mud with her boyfriend,
journals, draws with sidewalk chalk and writes poetry. On a rainy
day, you may find her walking around barefoot.
Reggie Worth
Reggie Worth is a York Technical College
graduate and senior at Winthrop University majoring in Professional
Communications. Some of his hobbies include playing drums, writing,
skateboarding, tennis, skiing, and going to concerts. He comes from
a large family of six and immensely enjoys spending time with his
family and friends. After school, he plans on traveling the States
and possibly spending some time in Ireland.
