Improving Quality of Life in Breast Cancer Survivors

Winthrop University is honored to take part
in a study on quality of life in breast cancer survivors. The
study is based out of Clayton State
University in Morrow, GA, in metro Atlanta, under the direction
of Dr. Melanie Poudevigne.
Are You Eligible?
To be considered for the study, you must be a
female who:

Currently aged 18-65 years
-
Recently survived breast cancer
(less than 2 yrs)
-
Completed cancer
treatment
What Does the Study Involve?
The 12-week study involves performing aerobic
and resistance training exercise 3 times per week for approximately
1 hour on the Winthrop University Campus at the new,
state-of-the-art Lois
Rhame West Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Center.
All sessions will be supervised by a trained fitness
specialist monitored by Dr.
Janet Wojcik, Health and PE faculty member. You will also
fill out some pencil and paper surveys every 4 weeks on sleep,
work absenteeism, mood, and a physical activity recall. You
will have your hemoglobin measured by finger-prick. These
assessments every 4 weeks take about 30 minutes.
Your doctor must give permission
for you to participate.
The study is approved by the
Winthrop University Institutional Review Board (IRB).
In addition to the supervised
personal training, you will receive monetary compensation of $70 for
completing the study. Parking passes will be provided.
