RESEARCH PROJECT GUIDELINES

Begin the report with a two paragraphs related to the article from the “Criminological Theory” reader.  The first paragraph should be a summary of the article.  The second paragraph should be an explanation of how you linked the article to your research.

The remaining portion of the paper should begin with a statement of your research question (remember the goal of our individual meetings was to create a research question for each of you).

I want the rest of the paper to be composed of the answers that you found in your research:

• Has your research question been answered in the field of criminology?
• If so how?
• Are there conflicting opinions in the field?
• If it has not been answered, how would you go about finding the answer, and what do you think future research should focus on?
• What additional questions about the subject have you uncovered, or created during your research?
• What are the theoretical implications of your findings? (Or how can the various theories on crime that we have talked about this semester better inform our knowledge of this issue?)

Finally, you need to cite all 5 of your sources.  You must have 5 sources from academic journals.  You are not limited to 5, as you may have more sources.  Indeed, once you have your 5 journal sources you may cite books, newspapers, etc.  This must be done in ASA format.  Additionally, any papers using Wikipedia as a source will lose a substantial number of points.

FREE HINT: Look at how books and articles are cited at the end of one of your journal articles and use this same format.
