Class Overview

Geography of Africa presents Africa’s physical environment, its socio-cultural diversity, its colonial heritage, and its economic development. This course will cover a broad range of topics focusing around Africa’s unique diversity of people, environment, culture, politics and history.

This class seeks to go beyond the superficial media interpretations of the African continent. As geographers, we seek to examine and understand the unique nature of Africa so as to gain a better understanding of its present situation and future possibilities.
