Internet Course Information
Dr. Silagyi-Rebovich uses web
environments to enhance the nutrition courses she teaches.
NUTR
221-Internet is an almost asynchronous courses. Almost asynchronous course
may be described as "hybrid" courses meaning the professor
may require several on-campus meetings for orientation, examinations and
in some cases, presentations. The nutrition internet-based courses
are intended to meet the needs of students who can come to campus
periodically during the academic term.
To determine your readiness for a web-based course, read and reflect
on the student information at
http://www.winthrop.edu/webct/wctstudents.htm.
The
instructor of record is not the technology
expert. Course management is based upon
the assumption that students have/are able to acquire the
technology knowledge and skill needed to successfully complete a
web-based course.
All students must activate and use their Winthrop email accounts by
the first day of the semester. Students who do not attend mandatory
on-campus orientation or log into course
web sites by the time of the mandatory orientation will be
administratively dropped from the course.
The course list serve is automatically generated in the first
week of the academic term. Students are responsible for
activating student email accounts
by the FIRST DAY OF THE ACADEMIC TERM in order to ensure they are
included in the class list serve.
Students must know how to use Microsoft Word and Excel (or transform
files from other software to doc or xls files). Students
will automatically earn a grade of zero on
work transmitted in any other format.
Students are responsible for reading, understanding and
following through with hardware and software requirements as
specified by Winthrop's WebCT server.
Dr. Silagyi-Rebovich is not a
technology support staff person and will
not assist students with hardware/software problems, concerns,
questions, issues. Students are accountable for online testing
instructions (explained and demonstrated during orientation) and are admonished to CAREFULLY read and UNDERSTAND
online testing instructions.
