BADM 580 - Financial Markets Seminar (Credits: 3.00)

This course provides lectures, panel discussions and site visits relevant to the world of business through the participation in a weeklong seminar series in New York City and Washington, D.C., and other possible locations.  Prerequisites: ACCT 280. ACCT 281 recommended.

 
ACCT 280 - Accounting for Business Decisions I (Credits: 3.00)

This course is the first of a two-part course focusing on the business environment and the use of financial accounting information for decision making in various business settings. It incorporates a project that uses financial concepts to help the student see the interrelation and interdependence of the various business functions as well as teaching students the basic financial accounting concepts  (2011-2012 University Catalog).

(Prerequisite: CSCI 101B and MATH 101, 105, 105 or 151. 

 
ACCT 305 -Intermediate Accounting I (Credits: 3.00)

Theoretical and practical foundations of financial accounting and reporting for assets and current liabilities  (2011-2012 University Catalog).

(Prerequisite: ACCT 281 with grade of C- or better). 

 
ACCT 306 - Intermediate Accounting II (Credits: 3.00)

Accounting for long term liabilities, capital, and special transactions. Prerequisites: Grade of C- or better in ACCT 305. All ACCT courses numbered above 299 have a prerequisite of junior status, an overall GPA of at least 2.00 and a grade of C- or better in HXMP 102.  (2010-2011 University Catalog).

(Prerequisite: ACCT 305 with grade of C- or better). 

 
ACCT 505 - Intermediate Accounting III  (Credits: 3.00)
Special accounting topics not covered in other accounting courses.  Examples of topics covered are investments, leases, pensions, revenue recognition, accounting changes and error analysis, and accounting for income taxes.(2011-2012) University Catalog).
 
ACCT 601 - Introduction to [Financial] Accounting (Credits: 3.00)
Preparation of accounting information according to GAAP and analysis of accounting data for the purposes of planning and control.  (2010-2011 University Catalog). [Notes: offered as needed.]  
 
ACCT 606 - Advanced Financial Accounting (Credits: 3.00).
Exploration of the theoretical basis of financial accounting and the study of selected current issues concerning generally accepted accounting principles.  (2010-2011 University Catalog). (Prerequisite(s): ACCT 401).
 
ACCT 615-619 - Professional Exam Review (Credits: 0) or ACCT 616, 617, 618 & 619 (Credits: 0)
Professional examination preparation. Student must demonstrate proficiency in a simulation of one of the following professional examinations: Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor. (2010-2011 University Catalog).
