Extra Credit

You may earn up to 3% of points (30 points) through extra credit. You may only do one extra credit assignment. This will be graded like any other assignment, i.e. it is not guaranteed that you will get all 3%. Your earned points will be applied over and above the points you earn in the class. Extra credit must be turned in by hard copy and through www.turnitin.com by Monday November 19, or earlier. The following are extra credit options:

1)      Attend a pre-approved political event during the semester and write a 4-5 pg. report about it. You must also submit documentation of attendance. The report should include a brief summary of what took place at the event, as well as a longer analysis relating it back to our coursework. The analysis should demonstrate that you have a critical understanding of the topic and that you understand the event’s relevance to a certain aspect of comparative politics. Therefore, you must be able to relate the event to one of the theories you learn about in class.

Events may include a rally or meeting, attending a lecture on an international political topic, or any others for which you receive prior approval.

2)      Watch a pre-approved movie and write a 4-5 pg. report.  The report should include a brief summary of what took place in the movie, as well as a longer analysis relating it back to our coursework. The analysis should demonstrate that you have a critical understanding of the topic and that you understand the event’s relevance to a certain aspect of comparative politics. Therefore, you must be able to relate the event to one of the theories you learn about in class.
