The large, heavy blossom is velvety and its scent is similar to lemon. A size of 8 cubic inches and weight of 8 ounces or more is not uncommon for this whopper of a mega-blossom. This tree-borne flower blooms between May & July, depending on latitude and intensity of sunlight. The large, shiny dark-green leaves have a leathery surface texture and are often as big as 9 inches long and 4 inches wide.
