Objectives: 1) Getting on PCSAS
2) Creating Data File in Program Editor
3) Saving the PCSAS File to your Pin Drive
4) Exit PCSAS
5) Retrieving your PCSAS file from your jump drive
I) Getting on PCSAS.
From the Program Manager— click “Stat & Math Applications”. Click SAS ICON
(in blue box). You should find yourself in the SAS Program Editor. This is
where you create and modify files a data files.
II) Creating a SAS File:
Lets create a data file called Tall.sas. Go to page 27 (Problem 1) of the Spatz text.
Please enter/type in the female and male heights. Type “1” to denote a female
(1=female, 2=male) for the GENDER variable and the women’s height score
(ex. 64) for the TALLNESS variable. Enter each women’s data on a separate line.
In other words, one line per women. Repeat for the male scores.
Example:

GENDER TALLNESS
ROW 1 person 1 women 64 {1 64}
ROW2 person 2 women 67 {1 67}
ROW3 person 3 male 68 {2 68}
III) Naming and Saving to your jumpdrive.
PLEASE ENTER YOUR PIN DRIVE .
1. Click File with mouse arrow (top, left hand corner)
2. Click Save with mouse arrow
3. Within rectangle (bottom left corner, first line) under File Name type {Tall.sas}
4. Click Save In (upper left corner) with mouse arrow with mouse arrow and
arrow down to a: and Click. It should be saved to your Pin Drive. (Note light
comes on during secular saving).

Click close or X .
IV) Exit for Program Editor/PCSAS
1. Click File (top left corner) with mouse arrow.
2. Click Exit SAS (bottom rectangle) with mouse arrow.
V) Retrieve File from your Pin Drive.
1. Follow procedures in I (getting on SASPC).
2. Click File (top left corner in Program Editor.
3. Click Open (top of rectangle) with mouse arrow
4. Click Look In (upper left) with mouse arrow.
5. Click Drive that has data file.
6. Click {tall.sas} a file in far left box and then click 0kay.
