PROBABILITY, CRITICAL VALUE, TEST STATISTIC AND ALPHA

ALPHA  translates into a Critical Value--the larger the ALPHA the smaller the Critical Value (ignore sign)

A Big Test Statistic (calculated) is associated with a small probability  (that HO is true).

If your probability (provided by computer)  is small less that Alpha ( reject the null hypothesis)

If your Calculated Statistic  (T, Chi Sq) is larger then CV then reject the null--why?
