Paper 3: Annotated Bibliography.

Your third assignment asks you to research and find four or five sources that help you understand the positions taken in answer to the issue question you have chosen for your final researched argument.  You want to locate the most authoritative and valid sources that will help you in developing your argument in these ways:  sources that help you understand the context of the issue, and sources that help you understand the positions or solutions in response to the issue question and who takes these positions or solutions.  In other words, you want sources that will help you support the position or solution you agree with as well as understand the opposing positions or solutions.

All sources must come from the database  research found on the library website.  You are looking for current sources from the last seven years.

Organization:  After each works Cited entry (given in alphabetical order) you must briefly summarize the article by addressing the following:  What are the main arguments?  What is the purpose of this book or article?  What are the key points the author stresses in their work?  What conclusions does the author draw about his or her subject

Don't forget to summarize in your own words--no direct quoting, unless there is a word you can't translate.

Next, you will briefly evaluate the source based on the standards from Nosich.  Remember,  you want to highlight the effectiveness of the source as well as mentioning any lapses. Questions to consider:   Does it seem like a reliable and current source?  Why?  Is the research biased or objective?  Are the facts well documented?  Who is the author or authors? Is she or he qualified in this subject?  Is this source from a scholarly journal or well respected magazine? why is the work significant for the research project you are developing?
