Dear Dr. Stallings:

I am a senior at Winthrop University, enrolled in Writing 465. For this course, I chose to do my feasibility study on the addition of a cooking class called Culinary 101. Winthrop University has a wide variety of electives, and I believe that the addition of this course would even further diversify its elective options. The proposed course would satisfy the goal of teaching students to prepare healthy, novice level meals, and would become a part of the Human Nutrition department course offerings. As you are the Human Nutrition Acting Chair and a Professor of Human Nutrition, I would like to discuss the following topics with you:

1.      The feasibility of Culinary 101 being added to Winthrop's general education courses in respect to budget, faculty, and facilities

2.      The number of possible credit hours to be earned from the enrollment of Culinary 101

3.      Culinary 101 course goals and content, to ensure its differentiation from other Human Nutrition classes offered at Winthrop

I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my project with you. I plan to contact you this week to discuss a suitable time to meet.

Thank you so much for your time,

Sincerely,

Alyssa Baker
