Grade

General Description

A
Distinctive

Entries show a pattern of being distinctive. Work is thorough and detailed.  Responses convey the sense that the writer has successfully practiced critical reading and writing skills. The overall impression is that the writer is in “command” of the material. All required entries are included.

B
Accurate/Specific

Entries show a pattern of being accurate and specific. While there may be some variety in the overall performance and the group of entries may not convey the same sense of “command” as the “A,” the entries’ details suggest the writer has engaged with some critical reading and writing.  All required entries are included.

C

Accurate/General

Entries show a pattern of being accurate but general.  While the entries consistently show an attempt to answer the questions, the responses show a pattern of lacking detail.  The impression created is that while the entries relate to the tasks, there is not a clear sense of critical reading and writing skills being consistently practiced.  All required entries are included.

D

Attempt but Incomplete/Inaccurate

Entries show a consistent attempt to address the task, but show a pattern with one or more of the following problems: missing entries, inaccurate information, or problems in the execution of the tasks. Entries convey the sense that the writer has not examined the material in much more than a cursory sense.

F

Significantly Below Expectations

Entries show a pattern that is significantly below the expectations because of one or more of the following problems: missing entries, consistent problems with accuracy, sloppy or disorganized work, or serious problems in the execution of the assignments.  Entries convey the sense that the writer has not even attempted to complete the tasks in an even cursory sense.
