GNED 101X.003
Paper 2 Assignment
Due in class on Monday November 12
Chicken Run is a movie about problem solving. Your assignment is to watch the movie closely—very closely—and take notes. Then you will write me a 4-5 page typed paper about the problem solving strategies used in the movie. Discuss the various problem-solving strategies you see used, along with their strengths and weaknesses. Then evaluate the "winning" solution used in the movie. Do you think it is likely to remain successful over the long term? You should correctly use the terminology for kinds of thinking and for the five stages of problem-solving that is used in Kirby & Goodpaster.
Chicken Run will be shown in class on Monday Oct. 29. You must be prompt. The class will run a little long to allow the full movie to be shown. There will be a re-showing for the other two sections of GNED 101X on Sunday, Nov. 4 in Room 412 in Thurmond at 8:00 PM. Seating for that showing will be very limited, but if you wish to see the movie for a second time to confirm and clarify your notes and analysis, you can go and see if there’s a seat after the two assigned classes get their seats. Or feel free to rent the movie if you wish.
There is no need to use secondary sources for this paper. You need instead to use what you have learned about creative and scientific thinking, Myers-Briggs types, logic, and problem-solving to evaluate the strategies shown in the movie.
