Last Minute Reminders

1. Final Exams are scheduled for 3 pm Friday Dec. 10 in KIN 215 (T/R class) and for 8 am Wednesday Dec. 15 in KIN 312. Absence from the final exam will cause you to fail the course. If you have an illness or other legitimate emergency that requires you to miss the final exam, you must contact the office of the Dean of Student Life in Dinkins as soon as possible and provide that office with documentation of your reason for missing the exam. They will then be in contact with me (or the professor in any other course) about allowing you to make up the exam. Oversleeping or other reasons for lateness are not accepted. If you are not present when the exam begins, you may not take the exam.

2. I will have your portfolios available for examination during the exam period. After the exam, you can take back your CDs and cassettes, and you will get a copy of my assessment report on the portfolio, which includes a calculation of your grade (except for the final exam) so that you=ll know pretty much what your grade will be. These portfolios will be stored for a year by the English department before disposal. However, it=s not possible to retrieve anything from them once they are shipped to storage. If you forgot to make a copy of anything in your portfolio, get in touch with me before your final.

3. After Tuesday Dec. 7 I will not be holding regular office hours, though I will be checking my voice mail and e-mail and coming in fairly often. If you need to see me, your best bet is to leave a voice mail or e-mail message at the office. I=ll get back to you as quickly as possible.

4. Schedule Changes can be made from Dec. 6-10 from 8:30 to 5:00 in 102 Tillman. If you need to change times or sections, or see if seats have opened in a closed course, try to do it this week to avoid the lines in January. I should know by Friday morning (the 10th) if there is serious doubt if you will receive a C or higher in WRIT 101; feel free to check with me on Friday to see if you need to register for WRIT 101 instead of WRIT 102 in the spring.

5. When does school start in January? There are no classes on Monday, January 17, in honor of the Martin Luther King holiday. If you are registered for a MWF or MW or M only class, you go to the Monday meeting on Tuesday, January 10 and the Wednesday meeting on Wednesday, January 11. If you are registered for a TR class, go to the first meeting on Thursday, January 12.

6. If you checked out any library books for papers 3 or 4, remember to return them before exams start. The fines build up really quickly over the holidays!

Have a Safe, Restful, Happy Holiday Season!

I=ll see you in January!
