Usage note: If the term was identified as being used by "teenagers", "college aged", "everyone", etc., I did not indicate that. I only added a "used by" note if some special group was noted. A number in parentheses after the word indicates the number of times collectors cited it.

| balla, baller (4) | Someone who has a lot of money or expensive things; someone who flaunts his money or belongings. Usually describes a male. Popularized in rap songs. First used by African Americans of both sexes; now extending to the white community. |
| ballin' | To have money, as on the day after payday. Popularized by the rap group Big Tymers; may be dwindling in popularity. |
| balls | Courage, willingness to do wild things. Mostly used by males. |
| bang (3) | To have sexual intercourse with. Mostly used by males. |
| bangin' (4) | To describe something (e.g. a woman's body) that is exceptionally appealing; something great, awesome, cool; something impressive. |

| beef | a disagreement with or harsh feelings toward someone: "He has beef to deal with." |
| beer goggles | When a person looks better to you because you've been drinking. |
| beer run | Going out to get beer or liquor for a night's partying |
| big | Euphemism for 'bitch'--used mostly by white youth. Often used jokingly. |
| big ass blunt | A very large marijuana cigarette |
| biatch, biotch (2) | Euphemism for 'bitch'--no negative implications. |
| bitch | An unlikeable person, generally a female. |
| bitch | A compliment for a female |
| bitch | An unpleasant situation, as when you have four papers due on one day |
| bitch | To nag at someone or annoy them |
| bitchin' (3) | Complaining about simple things. Mostly males use this. |
| bitchy | Mean, rude, not agreeing: "She's being bitchy." Mostly used by women about other women." |
| biznatch | Euphemism for 'bitch'--often used mockingly among urban friends |
| blaccent | A dialect used by young whites who emulate black patterns of speech--for instance those who listen to rappers. |

| bo-right | An expression meaning "all right" or "okay." Used by members of the women's soccer team. |
| boot-leg | Non-standard, similar to 'crappy'--"That movie was so boot-leg." |
| booty | A woman's derriere; mostly used by males describing a woman's body. |
| boo-yah (2) | An exclamation meaning "in your face" or "hell yeah" or just general affirmation. Popularized by sportscasters. |

| brain | oral sex. Popularized by rap artists |
| brain-freeze | To hit someone so hard their brain stops working for a minute. Used by African American youth from the Columbia area; comes from the pain when eating something really cold. |
| break | To weaken someone (said of relationships) |
| britches | Pants; trousers. Widely used by white southerners. |
| bro | friend (used by close friends as a sign of the relationship) |

| Bud Diesel | Budweiser beer; mostly heard at fraternity houses |
| Buddy Ro | Nothing. "What are you doing?" "Buddy Ro." Used by middle-aged females. |
| busta | A no-good man. Originated in the R&B hip-hop community. |
| butterface (2) | An expression used for a girl that has a nice body but an ugly face--e.g. "Everything is good butterface." Used by high-school males. Popularized by comedian Shorty. |
| buzzed | Somewhat intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. |
| BYOB | Bring your own beer (bring your own bottle). Mostly used by people throwing parties. |
| camel toe | When a woman's vagina can be seen through a really tight pair of pants. Mostly used by guys; can be used in a bad way to pick on the girl. |
| cancer stick | Cigarette. Used by adults and those who want you to quit smoking because cigarettes cause cancer. |
| Can it! | Oh, shut up! |
| Cheba, cheeba | Slang term for marijuana. Used by smokers. |
| chick | A pretty girl. Used by guys. |
| chicken head (2) | An unattractive female; unattractive African American female. Mostly used by males. Sometimes can have a positive connotation. |
| Chilaxin' (2) | A combination of "chillin'" and "relaxing". Used by Myrtle Beach middle-schoolers, by southern teenagers. |
| chill (3) | To relax, calm down, hang out. |
| chillin' (3) | Relaxing, hanging out, doing nothing in particular. |
| chronic | marijuana |
| Chucktown | Charleston. Used by South Carolinians not from Charleston. |
| congrats | Congratulations. |
| cool beans | Expression meaning 'that's nice' or acknowledging that something good has happened. Usually a response to someone else's statement. |
| cop 'dat | To buy or acquire something. Originated by rapper Missy Elliot and now used mostly by African American males |
| Copper Top | Busch Light beer (top of the can is copper-colored). Mostly heard at fraternity houses. |
| co-sign | To side with, defend, or take up for. Used by many Clemson students and in the Clemson area. |
| cracker | a white person. Used by African Americans. Sometimes has racist overtones. |
| crash | To go to sleep. |
| crazy-ill | To be extremely nice or good. Used by many northern African American youth. |
| crib | One's house; where one lives. First used by African Americans. Popularized by TV show "MTV Cribs." |
| crow | An ordinary or not-so-attractive person. "She's so shiny and I'm just a crow." |
| crunchy | To look or feel rough or unattractive |
| crunk (2) | Fun or exciting activity. Popularized by rappers. Used mostly by African Americans but whites have picked it up a little. |
| crunked | A state of being; a cool place; a place that's got it going on. |
| cunt | Someone (usually a male) who is acting scared or in a stupid way. Used by other males to put that male down. |
| cuzzo | 'Cousin'. Used in southern conversations regarding family. |
| da bomb (3) | Good or great, awesome; cool. First used by African Americans; now used by dorky white guys. |
| Da Chuck | Charleston, SC. Used by South Carolinians not from Charleston. |
| Damn straight! (2) | Expression meaning "I approve" or "That's right"; indicates approval, excitement, or support. Can also be used to answer a question with an emphatic "Yes I did!" |
| Dap | A form of hand-shaking or high-fiving that shows your membership in or solidarity with your group (e.g. a fraternity). Used by many nationalities, but originated among African American gang members as a form of greeting. |
| Dawg, dog (7) | A greeting to a male friend. First used by African American males; co-opted by white males; now used by (or ruined by) Randy Jackson on American Idol. |
| dere | Over there. Popularized by rappers like Nelly and Chingy. |
| dick | To embarrass someone. |
| dick-riding | To be envious of or imitating someone. Used by many African American youth. |
| dip | One's girlfriend or boyfriend. Popularized in rap. |
| dipshit | A person who is a moron or who acts stupidly. |
| dog-nutz | A mocking expression, similar to butt-hole |
| doin' the dirty | To have sexual intercourse, especially with someone you just met. |
| dome | oral sex. Popularized by a hip-hop artist. |
| donkey-kong | To hit someone on top of the head with a closed fist. Comes from the video game antics of Donkey Kong Jr. |
| Don't be gay | Don't act stupid. Used particularly by people who associate with gay people, as sort of a mocking statement. |
| dookey | To have to go to the bathroom |
| doozie | Something that was tough or hard to deal with. Used by older people. |
| dork | Someone who displays unusual, stupid, or embarrassing behavior. used by white youth. |
| dough | money |
| down-low (3) | Something that is a secret or to be kept quiet. Popularized by R&B singer R. Kelly. Originated among African Americans; some white youth have picked it up. |
| drop, let it drop | To let go (figuratively) of something, to give something up |
| drop the kids off at the pool (2) | To defecate. Used by males; used by southerners. |
| dude (3) | A greeting, usually to males. May be used by white males, by surfers, by crackheads, by dorks trying to be cool. |
| duh! or doh! (2) | Mocking exclamation meaning "Well, that was obvious." Popularized by Homer Simpson. |
| dunno | "I don't know." |
| easy | Of a woman, to be sexually consenting with little encouragement. Used by males. |
| eatin' pizza (2) | Performing oral sex on a girl. |
| faded as fuck | Really intoxicated |
| fag | Someone who acts stupidly or dumb. Used in a joking manner among youth. |
| fag, faggot (4) | Someone who is a homosexual. Often used mockingly or negatively. |
| Fasho | Expression meaning "all right" or "for sure." Popularized by African Americans but some white youth have picked it up. |
| feel me | To understand me. |
| fellate | To perform oral sex on (probably from fellatio). |
| fine (2) | Someone who is good looking |
| 5-0 (2) | The police. Came into widespread use around the time of the TV program Hawaii 5-0. Used now mostly by African Americans or those who have done something illegal. |
| fixin' | Getting ready to; e.g. "fixin' to eat" means getting ready to go eat, not cooking dinner. |
| flip, flippin' | Euphemism for fuck, fuckin' |
| fly (2) | Someone or something that is extremely attractive; good-looking. |
| fo sho (4) | Certainly; definitely. Used mostly by African Americans. Popularized by artist Nelly. |
| 4-banger | Small car with 4-cylinder engine. Used mostly by car people. |
| frat | Fraternity |
| freak | A person, usually a woman, who is sexually creative or adventuresome. Used mostly by males. |
| freak | someone who is different from everyone else, who is not normal. |
| freakin' (3) | Euphemism for fuckin' |
| fresh | Too friendly or familiar in behavior |
| frontin' (2) | Someone who is acting differently from the way he or she feels |

| frugasical | Of a male, to have homosexual qualities. Originated among African Americans in the north. |
| fucked up | Severely intoxicated or drunk. |

| G | A friend; "Yo, G, what's going on?" Popularized by Will Smith in the show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. |
| gangsta | someone who is in a gang or who dresses like he/she is in a gang; something cool or coveted. Used mostly by African Americans. Usually a positive term. |
| get crunk with | To approach someone in a hostile manner. Used mostly by African Americans. |
| gettin' scandalous | To go to Scandal's Bar. Used mostly by regulars at the club. |
| ghetto (2) | Somewhere poor people (often African Americans) live; somewhere scary. |

| heat | A hand gun. |
| heeb | A Jewish person. Used mainly by young Jewish people, but can be an insult when used by non-Jews. |
| hella | "very". Originated in California; popularized thanks to Cartman in South Park and No Doubt's song "Hella Good." |
| hell yeah! | Expression of joy. "Class has been cancelled." "Hell, yeah!" |

| ho, hoe | A woman who has sexual relations with many men. Implies disrespect. |

| holla, holler (12) | Expression meaning "goodbye" or "I'll see you later". Variations holla dawg, holla at you later, holla atchou boy, holler at you |
| homie (5) | A friend. Started by African Americans; now used by those dorks that try to be cool. Variations homeslice, home dogg, homes. |

| I look a mess | An expression meaning 'I look horrible.' Used by African Americans |
| ice (4) | jewelry, especially diamonds. Used by males, African Americans; popularized by rappers, especially P.Diddy. |
| iced out (3) | wearing a lot of diamond jewelry. Popularized by rappers, esp. the Cash Money Millionaires |
| I'm down | I'm in agreement with that plan, I agree, I'll do it. |
| item | News-worthiness, especially of a couple's relationship. Public recognition that two people are officially a couple. |
| jacking off | Of males, masturbation. |
| jacked | stolen; from 'highjacked' |
| JBF hair | Hair that is messed up. Hair that looks like the person has just finished having sexual intercourse. Acronym means 'just been fucked'. |
| Jaw | semen. Used in joking expressions such as "Hey, jaw face!" |
| jerk-off | An unpleasant person. An insult. |
| Jet | to leave quickly. |
| jigg | fashionable. Used mainly by African Americans from the north. Associated with rapper Jay-Z. |
| jigga | A variation on 'nigga'. Not insulting. Used largely by white youth talking to other white youth. |
| jiggy | Attractive, cool, fly, all that. Used mainly by African American youth. |
| JK | "just kidding". Used as an Internet abbreviation. |
| Just postin' | Standing in a particular spot, as by the wall at a party. Used mainly by African Americans. |
| keep it real | To stay true to one's self and one's family; to resist the temptation to be fake. Used by African American adults. |
| kegger | A party featuring kegs of beer |
| knarly (also gnarly) (2) | Impressive, difficult. Used by skaters, surfers. |
| K-mart | Something that is cheaply made or cheap-looking. |
| knowledge | oral sex performed by a woman. Popularized by hip hop artists |
| kool | Of a person or thing, something you like, or that looks fun. Used by middle school students. |
| kosher | Good, going on as planned; used by white teens |
| krunk | intoxicated. Used by black teenagers |
| lagger | Someone who lags behind or keeps you waiting. |
| lame as hell | An expression meaning something like "boring" or "has no personality." |
| let's dip | Let's leave this place. |
| ma | Girl. Popularized in Mexican culture and then picked up by white Americans. |
| mack (2) | To flirt, to take advantage of. Used especially by males. |
| mad skillz | A praise of particular talent someone else possesses; e.g., "That basketball player has mad skillz." |

| merc | A person who will do anything for money. Short form of mercenary. |
| mos-def (2) | Most definitely; most certainly. Used mostly by African Americans; the name of a recording company. |
| mug | A place such as someone's room; someone's face. |
| my bad (4) | Expression meaning "I'm sorry" or "It's my fault" or "It's my mistake." Variation My b. |
| my dawg | My friend. See dawg, dog. |
| my nigga | My friend. Used by African American youth for each other. Popularized by hip hop artists. Controversial when used by whites. |
| naah (3) | Exaggerated expression meaning 'No'. Popularized in music. |
| nappy roots | A word to describe rough looks, feelings, or even emotions. Originated in the African American community. |
| narc | Someone who is likely to report misconduct to others (from narcotics agent) |
| narc | To report someone's illegal conduct to the authorities ("Did you narc me out?") |
| natty light | Natural Light brand beer. Popularized by Thursday night parties. |
| nickin' | Needing a cigarette (badly). From nicotine. Used by smokers. |
| nu-nu | Really new. Used by African Americans. Popularized by rap artist Killer Mike! |
| nut (2) | Of males, to ejaculate. Mostly used by males. |
| nuttin' | Nothing. |
| nympho | Someone who loves to have sexual intercourse. Usually used by males to describe females. |
| off da chain (4) | Something admirable, wild, out of control (possibly from a wild dog loosed from its chain). Popularized by rappers. Originated among African American youth but now widespread. |
| off da rip | Something excellent, exciting, admirable; of athletic accomplishments. Used by African American males. |
| off da heezy (2) | Synonym for off da chain. Variant off da heezy fo sheezy. |
| off the hook (2) | Synonym for off da chain. Very good, excellent, cool. |
| old school (4) | An older version; anything that is old or out of date; anything that reminds you of the great old days. Can be positive or negative. Originated among African Americans but now widespread. |
| one | An expression meaning "good bye" or "one love"--used as a departure statement. Mostly used by African Americans. Popularized in the film Belly. |
| on da D-L (2) | On the down-low. See down low. |
| on the rag (2) | Of a woman, to be having one's menstrual period. Metaphorically, to be nagging or annoying. |
| pa-doo | To have to urinate and defecate at the same time. Originated in Margaret Nance residence hall during the fall semester. |
| Peace-out! (3) | Expression meaning "good bye" or "See you later." |
| peeps (3) | One's friends, close circle, buddies. |
| phat (6) | Attractive, desirable, someone or something who looks really good. Originated among African American males; now being used by some white Americans. |
| pig | policeman. Used by those who do not like the police. |
| pimp (2) | A male who gets all the ladies. Not usually derogatory. Popularized by African Americans but some whites have picked it up. |
| pimp juice | Anything that attracts members of the opposite sex. Used mainly by African American males. Derived from the rapper Nelly's song 'Pimp Juice.' |
| piss | Expletive meaning "damn" or "I'm angry" |
| plastered | Intoxicated |
| playa, player (6) | A male who carries on relationships with more than one woman at a time. Originated among African Americans but some whites have picked it up. When used by males, seems to be positive; when used by females, often has a negative connotation. |
| popeye | A car with one headlight burned out. Used by white females. |
| po-po (6) | police. Popularized by rap artists. Use may have started among African Americans but is now widespread. |
| poppin' | Happening or going on: "What's poppin'?" Used by African American students in and around Atlanta |
| pot head (2) | Someone who smokes a lot of marijuana |
| props (2) | Respect; recognition for someone's accomplishments. Probably comes from a phrase like "proper thanks". Used by whites. |
| puke | vomit; to vomit. |
| pussy | A wimpy male; a male who doesn't act macho. |
| quickie | A quick sexual encounter. |
| rack | A woman's breasts. |
| rag | To make fun of; see on the rag. |
| re | "retard"--someone who is stupid. Used by white females. |
| Rebel | A stereotypical southerner. Used by Northerners, usually as a term of disrespect. |

| ricer | A person who's made his automobile look and sound really fast, but it isn't. Used by car people. |

| smackdown | A beating; physical harm. "If he doesn't stop, I'm going to have to bring on the smackdown." Used by wrestlers or males. |
| smashed | Very intoxicated. |
| Snap! | An expression meaning "I can't believe I just did that!" Used by white females who are goody-goodies. |
| Schnozz | Nose. Old-school slang. |
| S.O.L. | Acronym for "Shit out of luck"--really out of luck. |
| sorositute | Derogatory term used to imply that a sorority girl is promiscuous. |
| squibs | Old, beat-up, dirty pair of shoes. |
| stacked | Of a woman, generously endowed with breasts. Used by males. |
| stoned (2) | Under the influence of drugs, esp. marijuana. |
| stealth | To sneak around and spy on someone. Used by white southerners. |
| steel | hand gun. Used by many African American youth. |
| steppin' | Dancing; usually at a club. Used by African American women. |
| stinch | Severe odor (from stench). Used by upper-class whites. |
| stoked | To be happy or excited. Often used by punks and by extreme sports enthusiasts. |
| straight (3) | All right, cool, good; to have given up bad habits or be out of rehab or jail. Often referring to a state of mind. |
| straight trippin' | Said of someone who is crazy or doing something questionable. |
| strug | Someone who doesn't fit in or understand what a group is talking about. Used by white youth mostly. |

| sweet (2) | Something that is good, awesome, cool. May have been adopted from skater culture. |
| tap (that ass) (2) | To have sexual intercourse with |
