Short Take 3: Literary Analysis with a Cyber Twist
Due  November 5

This short take addresses the "literary study" questions on the Rhizome. You've read two novels, The Eyre Affair and Neuromancer, in this class. Here's a fairly traditional literary assignment with a twist: compare and contrast the role(s) technology plays in the two novels to make a critical point about the intersections of technology and literature. Here's the twist: you can either choose to present this as a traditional print analysis (a/k/a "a paper") or as some kind of multimedia presentation (Photostory, web page, podcast, etc...) Either way, you must use at least two pieces of external literary criticism as support for your analysis and document it according to MLA style (if you're doing a non-print analysis, one of your challenges will be to figure out HOW to do the documentation). Either the script or the text of your analysis must be submitted to www.turnitin.com. Length is up to you, but given the complexity of the two novels, I'd think you'd need a minimum of six or seven double-spaced pages (or their equivalent) to begin to do justice to your comparison.

After you submit the first version of your analysis, we will meet to discuss it and you will revise it before a final grade is assigned.
