Revisions of the Salad Bar Memo Exercise--TR Class

  1. We will no longer charge a fixed price for salad.  All salads will be weighed with our standard salad bowl at $.12 per ounce.

The scale manufacturer will make an adjustment to the scales, and everyone will be charged for the contents only. The price will increase to cover costs.

  2. The Columbus Avenue facility will be charging $.12 per oz. for salads until scales are adjusted.  Prices will increase to cover company cost.  Only provided bowls may be used.

  3. Some employees pay the same price for two pounds of salad as those taking 8 oz.  A price of $.12 an ounce was established as a fair sales price.   The Styrofoam cups and any other unusual bowls will not be accepted by the cashier without being weighed WITH our standard salad bowl.

An appointment has been scheduled with the scale manufacturer to make a scale adjustment, so that everyone will be charged for the contents only and cover the company’s cost.

  4. Columbus Avenue Cafeteria added scales to the cash register to prevent employees from being overcharged for salad.  Employees will only use the black or brown bowls when being weighed; other bowls will be accepted if they are weighed with the brown or black bowls.  An appointment has been schedule to adjust the scales to deduct weight for the bowls, you will be charged for contents only.  The salad price will increase to cover the cost.

  5. The cafeteria salad bar’s fixed cost resulted in unfair pricing.  A fair price was established; however, the weight of the bowl was not factored in.

An appointment has been scheduled for the scale manufacturer to adjust the scales to deduct the weight of the bowls so that everyone will be charged for the contents only. Then the price will be increased to an amount that will cover the company’s cost.
