Comparing the Bill of Rights to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

We have discussed in detail the Civil Liberties and Civil Rights offered to American citizens under the Constitution and, especially, the Bill of Rights.  Now, I would like for you to read the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights (found here:
http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml)

In a 3 - 5 page paper, discuss the similarities and differences between the Universal Declaration and the U.S. Bill of Rights.  What can you glean about the different purposes of these documents from their text and the way the issues are worded and presented?  What do you think about the similarities and differences as you see them?  Be sure to include your overall impression of the Universal Declaration including any strengths or weaknesses you may feel it has.  Naturally, you may also discuss any strengths or weaknesses you feel the Bill of Rights has as well.

 The paper will have to be submitted to turnitin.com.  How to do this will be explained in class.

The paper must be double-spaced with 1 inch margins all around (warning!  This is NOT the default setting for Microsoft Word….you must CHANGE the margins to 1 inch) and a 12 point Times New Roman font, there will be no “headers,” you will use a title page (which does not contribute to your total page count), bottom-center pagination, and an upper-lefthand corner staple [no “paper covers”]
