Do this exercise on your own if we do not have time for it in class.
- Page 135: What background story relates to
why/how you came to select your major? (3 minutes)
- Page. 124: What is an example of something you
learned in your major that was important in your personal life? Explain
WHY it was important. (5 minutes) NOTE: “Deep learning” is
referenced on 119 and 123.
- Page 95: Another aspect of your background
story: What impediments (especially regarding your thinking) do you
face as you approach your major/discipline? What is their origin? What
can you do about them? (5 minutes)
- Page 113-14: Write down 5-10 questions that your
discipline/major tries to address.
- Write down some F&P concepts in your major. (3
minutes)
- Page 132, 3.4: Do an SEEI for as many of the
following as possible:
i.
The logic of a discipline
ii.
The vocabulary in a discipline
iii.
F&P concepts in a discipline
iv.
The Q@I of a course
v.
The point of view of a discipline
- Page 118: Do the visualization on pages 67-68
(page 63 in the old edition). “Describe the path, as best you can,
according to how it would look from the point of view of the discipline
of the [major] you are in” (box on 118).
