Notes

1. Carefully reread chapter 3 in Nosich before you begin to write your essay and start thinking about the logic of your discipline.
2. Make sure you define your key terms – your discipline, your profession, the two intellectual traits/virtues.
3. Your definitions should be yours and you should ground your argument and support in these personal definitions. Avoid depending on dictionaries or Nosich for definitions of traits or on textbooks for definitions of your discipline. While you should feel free to consult these sources, you should ultimately define these terms in your own words from your own perspective.
3. Remember that your essay is to be argumentative with your argumentative stance stated in your thesis, an introduction, a body made up of supporting reasons and/or examples and/or evidence, a concession, and a conclusion.
4. Please consider showing me a working thesis, working outline, and/or rough draft of your essay while you are in the process of writing.
