CRTW 201 Reading Journal Grading Rubric
A An A reading journal entry shows mature critical thinking. You could apply the Standards to what you’ve written and see that the thinking behind it is sound. In addition, the amount of detail creates a clear and precise picture for the reader.
B A B reading journal entry also shows critical thinking, but the clarity of detail may be lacking, or examples may not be very relevant to the assignment at hand. This entry may not keep the reader in mind when explaining the thinking behind the examples and so may not make that thinking clear.
C A C reading journal entry may not show much critical thinking at all. You may have gotten off track or may not have understood the assignment. Even if there is understanding there, the examples you give and the explanation of them may be irrelevant, unclear, or imprecise.
D A D reading journal entry is an attempt that misses the mark. There is no real explanation of the thinking, possibly no or little understanding of the assignment, and no real attempt at critical thinking.
